What other forms beyond code can complement your contribution? How can you improve the outreach and accessibility by considering other non-code related contributions?

Code is often associated with design and user experience in some way. Both design and user experience was considered a central priority in this open source contribution. Writing the code is important, yet it needs to be based on the framework from the process of design and user research. The code in this contribution is there to build on the design as the material brings the sketches alive.

A LinkedIn course on user experience, SwiftUI Essential Training by Steven Lipton, was completed to have a greater understanding on the subject so it could be given proper attention and implementation in the design and development process.

Design makes up everything and was in the centre of attention in this contribution. Not only was the contribution a portfolio, which is a design project in itself, but it is also made for fine art artists requiring a proper gallery space for their work. Inspiration was taken from research around portfolios in general as to the user experience and interface, however more specific artist research was also completed to see how they express their work and differentiating portfolios. Research showed their portfolios were more creative in form of expression and weren’t in all cases very user friendly. They were rather seen as another art project where the user is left free to explore and understand on their own. The aim was to include an aspect of the creativity of these portfolios yet keep a clean and simple user experience.
